Rainy Labor Day in Germany
I must say that I'm glad it's now fall. I no longer need to be annoyed by the 50 degree mornings and rainy days since once you put away the pure white pants and shoes it is no longer summer. The down comforters, which never left my bed for summer, can stay without me feeling guilty and my space heaters can blow without shame. The AC I bought in the spring will go down to the basement with only one day of use and hopes of a hot summer next year. Seriously, the only days I didn't need a comforter this year were in April and from August 18-23 when I was in Mallorca!!
Cute summer clothes will get packed up soon and I've got the wool pants out to take to the tailor for alterations. I do love sweater season so I can't truly complain, but will need to buy a long coat this year. That size 14 will not work on any level right now. It's been a very hard summer food wise. Fruit was not a flavorful this year and I am seriously struggling with overeating, night time binging and just plain stupid decisions. Thankfully, I looked really good in my bikini and want to continue to do so. Will be doing spinning classes, Tae bo DVDs and add weight lifting back into the schedule.
Here's a pic of me in a bikini!! Who would have ever thought it possible!

Happy Bastille Day!
I know. I'm not French, don't live in France and can't speak a lick of the language I studies for 6 years, but it's the closest holiday I could think of. It's been a roller coster spring with tons of goodbyes and new responsibilities!
On the weight loss front: After ballooning up to 159 between going to NC in March and hotel livin' in May in San Antonio, i have managed to get the scale to slide downward again and weighed in WEdnesday at 155. Still not goal, but healthy and within my 3 pound allowance. I continue to workout almost daily and have the sore muscles to prove it. i admit to being irked that some of my clothes are tighter than they were in MArch, but others are loose so I don't know if I shrunk a few things or if my body is just reshaping itself now that I'm maintaining. I still log everything I eat and chat occasionally on WW, but have not used it nearly as much as I used to. Have to think about whether or not I want to continue to pay for online access to the calculator.
On the financial peace front: The title finally showed up in the mail this week after paying off the car the last time I posted. My student loan is now beind knocked away with twice a month overpayments and every extra dime I can find to throw at it. Target date: Christmas 2007 I'm so excited that the car service on Wednesday was less than what I had saved up, so I still have money in the car repair fund :))
Travel Report: Amazingly, I have opted not to travel much this summer. Being debt free is more important to me, but I am going away for my birthday week. I'll let you know where, once I buy the tickets. Kerrie and I are going to London in October. It would be easier if we had more money cause a hostel will cost us $100 per person for 3 nights, but we can make it work. The main thing will be to limit eating out and frivolous shopping. Also glad that so many of the things to see can be done for free. I already have 15 pounds in the house waiting for the trip.
Work Report: As of today I am the lone pediatrician in town. Evne though I've been medical director for 6 weeks and only see patients 1/2 time, it hasn't been too busy. The first week, when I was seeing a full schedule of patients was hard,, but now I just have to avoid seeing the grownups!
That's all for now. Hopefully I'll be back before October!

Coincidence?
It's struck me on several occasions as I've journeyed on this road that when I'm doing well in one area of my life, other areas seem to fall in line too. Last January I started Weight Watchers, as we all know. It's been very successful. In September, I started Financial Peace University, and as of today have paid of $5497.18 in credit cards and today paid of my S40. That's $23,183.08 in 7 1/2 months. Plus I've paid an additional $5,042.27 toward my student loan. 77 pounds/ 18140.81 dollas of debt gone, it's actually pretty amazing when you think about it.
But today, as I'm struggling with 2 consecutive weeks of being incredibly off point and not being careful with my cash, I realized that the key and connection between the two things, that self-discipline everyone is so amazed by, has absolutely nothing to do with food or money. It's really about where I am in my relationship with God
and if I'm giving Him enough of my time and energy. The definition is: the act of denying yourself; controlling your impulses. The act is so very spiritual that God gives us self-control as one of those fruits of the spirit. It's the one no one wants to talk about and in my opinion, the hardest one to display if you aren't right with Christ. SO here I am, still at 156 pounds but I really can't blame NC for them and 20 euros short on cash plus borrowing from my emergency fund to pay for my trip to Austria in July. It's not about FPU or WW, it's about me and the fact that I've been going to the gym earlier and getting on the computer instead of reading my Bible in the morning. I've spent more time praying for other people than listening for what God has to tell me or confessing my sins. I can't even say that writing it all down for anyone who wanders by to see will make a difference, but I do know that if things don't change soon, spiritually. I'll be back up to 166 pounds and the new clothes I bought won't fit. And that student loan? Well it might take longer than 10 more months to pay it off as I spend it on more clothes that won't fit and traveling to places that I won't get scrapbooked for years.
Coincidence? I don't think so.
The noun self-discipline has 2 meanings:
Meaning #1: the trait of practicing self discipline
Synonym: self-denial
Meaning #2: the act of denying yourself; controlling your impulses
Synonyms: self-denial, self-control
