Hair, Hair and More Hair Info

I admit that I have spent more time on my hair than on any other thing this week. I've shopped online and at Lush. I've visited more websites and still can't tell you what my hair type is. I've sprayed, rubbed and massaged and still am at a lost for what to do each morning when I wake up. Okay, that's not quite true. I run my fingers through it and finger pick until it's the shape I like then I throw on a headband. I'm fascinated by the patches along my ear line that refuse to stay twisted or curled. I'm wondering if the sunflower oil will really make my scalp stop itching or am I too oily. How much moisture is too much versus not enough. I admit that I'm overthinking, overanalyzing and spending way too much time on something that's supposed to make thing simpler, but I'm chalking it up to growing curve right now. Once I figure out which products work best for me, and what regimen I am going to use, and which style will be my regular go to style, then I'll be taking it all for granted. For now I'm going to go scratch my scalp and spray some water on my hair!

Adventures in Change

SO last Friday evening after finally getting all the microbraids out of my head, I chopped my hair off. Yep, I did the BC and cut off everything that was relaxed that I could get to. I was amazed to see that I have curls!

This began an interesting week as I have spent more time reading about natural hair styles, haircare and management than I have on Facebook, which we know is saying a lot. Needless to say it's a switch for me, as I have been the queen of beauty shop usage. So today I tried to color my hair with henna and then flat twisted it. I realize that it's going to take practice to master this whole hair thing, but man did it take forever and I had to redo several of the twist just to get them to stay in.

Now the plan is to go out to dinner in a cute head scarf/ hat deal so I don't have to untwist my hair until tomorrow. We'll see how it turns out!

*****UPDATE*****

So the twists came out this morning and I didn't like it at all. Actually, my hair felt so dry in the back that I couldn't stand the texture. Then the side part looked ridiculous, so I threw a flower in my hair to hide the part and went to church anyway.

I'm deep conditioning now and then will rinse out and try a twist and curl. I'm loving the adventure of discovering this side of myself. Who knew?
